Tesla performance tire guide

Performance tires give a Tesla sharper steering response and more grip, at the cost of tread life, noise, ride comfort and some efficiency. On performance variants, matching or exceeding the specified speed rating and load index is essential, and staggered fitments limit rotation.

Speed rating and load index are not optional

These cars are heavy and fast. A tire's speed rating reflects its ability to manage heat and load at speed, so we match or exceed what your specific vehicle calls for.

Summer versus all-season performance

Summer performance compounds give the most grip in warm, dry conditions — most of the Los Angeles year — but lose meaningful wet and cold performance. All-season performance tires give back some grip for year-round consistency.

What it costs you

Expect shorter tread life, more road noise and a firmer ride. If you drive canyon roads and use the car's acceleration, that is a fair exchange. If you commute, it usually is not.
