Why it exists
The air inside a tire resonates at a frequency you can hear, and in a quiet EV cabin it is noticeable. A bonded foam layer absorbs some of that energy before it reaches the wheel and the body structure.
How to know if your tire has it
Not all Tesla tires do, and it varies by tire model and size. We check before working on a tire, because it changes both repair technique and what we can promise about the result.
Repair and replacement
Reaching the inner liner to fit a proper patch means dealing with the foam correctly. Done properly it is fine; done carelessly it is not. If a repair is not sound, we will say so rather than send you out on it.
